01About
The book opens with a round cake carrying three striped candles, a polka-dot gift box with a big bow and a pair of heart balloons. Then come a swirly cupcake with one candle, a pointed party hat with a pom-pom, a teddy bear holding a balloon, a puppy sitting beside a wrapped present, and a crown under a star balloon. Later pages show a bear popping out of an open gift box, a cake topped with a large star, an invitation card with a blank scalloped panel next to a balloon, and a cupcake beside a gift. The invitation card is the one page with room to write: the panel inside the frame is empty, so a child can add a name or a drawing. Shapes are large and the decoration is simple dots, stripes and drips, so young kids can finish a page in one go.
