About these crocodile coloring pages

Each crocodile on this page has a long toothy snout, bumps along the top of its back and tail, and a belly marked in wide stripes like a ladder of scales. The simpler pages show a single crocodile, either standing upright like a cartoon character or lying low like a real one. Upright, it waves, sits facing you, hugs a ball, holds a little fish, wears a sun hat or sits by a flower. Low to the ground, it floats along a wavy waterline, naps curled up, rests by a tall leaf or lies near a lily pad. One baby is just climbing out of its cracked egg. The busier pages are everyday adventures with more objects to fill: reading on a braided rope mat, gardening in overalls with a trowel and seedlings, sipping tea on a checkered blanket, riding a scooter in a helmet, wrapping a gift, baking star cookies, sailing a toy boat, building a sandcastle, hiking with a backpack, blowing bubbles and sharing an umbrella in the rain with a friend.

Coloring tips

  • Real crocodiles are olive green, gray-green or tan-brown, often with darker bands across the back and tail and a cream or pale yellow belly.
  • Color the bumps along the back a darker green than the body; on a real crocodile these are bony plates set in the skin.
  • Leave the teeth white and use a soft pink inside the open mouths so the grins stay friendly.
  • On the floating crocodile, color the water below the wavy line blue and keep everything above it in crocodile colors, showing how little of a real one sticks out.
